The best way to reduce our carbon footprint right now is to implement sustainable low carbon technologies like transport electrification and renewable energy deployment. However, low carbon alternatives will never be able to reduce the concentration of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. The only way to do that is by capturing and storing/ utilizing that carbon.
The Carbon storage technology that has the greatest capacity and the most developed infrastructure at the moment is carbon dioxide aided Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR). However, the technology isn't the carbon negative savior that we are looking for but it can help us in getting there.
